Knapp Medical Center is a 226-bed acute care hospital. More than 200 physicians, all independent professional practitioners, serve on the Knapp Medical Staff. Knapp employs a total of approximately 860 people, and operates with the help of 75 volunteers.

STHS ER Weslaco, located at 330 W. Expressway 83, features:
- 14 treatment and three short-stay observation rooms
- Full laboratory
- Retail pharmacy
- Ambulance bay
Diagnostics are available on an emergency and outpatient basis, and will include Computerized Tomography (CT) scans, X-ray, ultrasound, bone density and mammography. The facility has separate outpatient and emergency entrances and waiting areas. STHS ER Weslaco is open around-the-clock and on holidays with emergency medicine physicians and ancillary staff. The facility offers Level IV trauma care and and the staff treats adult and pediatric general emergency cases on an outpatient basis, as well as patients who may need observation for less than 24 hours. Patients who need surgical intervention or a higher level of care would be stabilized and transferred to an area hospital.

Valley Baptist Micro Hospital, Weslaco, located at 1021 W. Interstate 2, features:

The micro-hospital will be the first in the Rio Grande valley, a 28,000-square-foot facility off West Interstate 2 in Weslaco. Valley Baptist owns clinics in the county, but the micro-hospital will be its largest healthcare facility in Hidalgo County.
