Advertising & Publicity – All members receive a free listing and/or publicity on our membership roster on our website at www.weslaco.com. You receive immediate publicity upon joining as we announce new members on our social media sites Facebook and Twitter, our e-blast, our Visitor Center lobby monitors. Affiliate Organization Membership – The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce holds memberships in the following organizations: Rio Grande Valley Partnership, US Chamber of Commerce, Texas Association of Business, Better Business Bureau, Hidalgo County Tourism Cooperatives, Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, Texas Travel Industry Association, Texas Association of Fairs and Events, and the Texas Festivals and Events Association. Information and applicable benefits as a result of the Chamber’s membership in these organizations is made available to the Weslaco Chamber Membership accordingly. The chamber participates in other local, state and national associations.

Business and Political Contacts – The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce provides its membership various opportunities to network with fellow members and establish business and political contacts. Chamber members are also kept abreast of state legislative issues that affect local business. Members ultimately become a part of a “customer referral service” for future business activities

Business Referral Service – Current Chamber members are referred to the public when requests/inquiries are made for the names of local business, professionals, service-oriented organizations/businesses, and various product oriented establishments.

Promotional Display Area – Members of the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce are welcomed to display promotional material such as brochures, business cards, announcements, etc., in the lobby of the Chamber office. Tourists, visitors, and business representatives visit the office daily and often request information about local businesses and Chamber members.

Event Promotion on web page, social media and lobby monitors – The Weslaco Chamber’s web page at www.weslaco.com is an interactive site that is promoted throughout the Valley, state and nation. The site provides a member with free listing and an opportunity to post specials and coupons. Member events such as ribbon cuttings and grand openings can be placed on the calendar of events. Chamber will post and share your events on the Facebook and Twitter pages as well. 

Networking – The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce holds a monthly Speed Networking Luncheon, where members can make new connections. Members may attend any of these events free of charge while non-members are required to pay a fee.

Groundbreaking Ceremony – Weslaco Chamber members who build a new facility are encouraged to hold a groundbreaking ceremony (at no cost to the member) prior to construction. Additionally, new businesses constructing a facility in the Weslaco area are encouraged to host a groundbreaking ceremony as well upon joining the Chamber. Among the guest list are the Chamber’s Red Coat Ambassadors, City of Weslaco officials and media. Members who wish to host a ceremony must contact Chamber staff to schedule a date.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Upon joining the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce, new businesses in the Weslaco area are encouraged to host a ribbon cutting ceremony at no cost to the business. Existing Weslaco members who relocate, renovate and or expand are also invited to hold a ribbon cutting celebration. Among the guest list are the Chamber’s Red Coat Ambassadors, City of Weslaco officials and media. Members who wish to host a ceremony must contact the Chamber staff to schedule a date. A photo from the event is included on the Chamber social media and e-blast.

Mixers – Members of the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce are invited to host a mixer as an opportunity to promote their business among representatives of other Chamber members. Also, a mixer, traditionally held after 5 p.m., provides members with a networking opportunity in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Members who would like to host a mixer should call the Chamber office for the mixer fee schedule. The guest list includes all Chamber members who are encouraged to invite their employees.

Seminars & Workshops – Seminars provide members insight into areas such as advertising, business management, communication skills, customer service, financial management, human resources, marketing and promotional work.

Special Events – The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce invites all members to participate in the Chamber’s special events such as the Annual Fundraiser, Annual Luncheon & Awards Ceremony, Texas Onion Fest and other activities. Members are also encouraged to join the Chamber staff at various trade shows/expositions and help staff members promote Weslaco.
